Google received approval from the Mountain View City Council to begin construction of their new headquarters on Charleston near Shoreline Blvd. The new headquarters will house nearly 2,700 employees.

The sculptured tent-like roof is its most impressive feature. There are solar panels that will generate 4MW and is able to collect rain water, regulate temperatures and air quality. And material will be used that minimizes bird deaths.

The ground floor is open to the public dawn to dusk. The outdoor walkway will have restaurants, shops and bike paths.

There will also be access to an open plaza with food trucks and sculptured gardens.
